From the Wine Maker As we swing into our fifth summer of operation, I have begun to think carefully about all we have learned in winemaking; owning a small business; balancing full-time work on top of running the winery; what customers like & want in the areas of both wine and events.
One surprise is our 'steady' or 'regular' customers, many of whom have joined our wine club. The surprise is not just that they keep coming back, its the contribution they provide in their comments and their suggestions, and especially their kindly encouragement.
Another surprise is our growing business. We thought at about five years or so we would level out, but last year (as you've heard me say here before) we saw great growth and this year looks like another booming year. Now it is early, but thru May our sales are still trending up at what is frankly a scary rate, --meaning its a I-don't-know-how -to-keep-up kinda thing. Our customers keep saying its a Good Thing and I just smile and say, 'Wait till January when you can have any wine you want as long as its this one or that one!'
We are moving forward, doing what we can to keep up and we will do our best. The berry wines I have been promising are still in development and I hope to release at least one in July, but its up to the chemistry, not the winemaker!
We also hope to announce our Fall Winery Bus Tour pretty soon, we are still working on the schedule. We have our summer schedule of special events, the June bread baking contest; the July Chocolate Day celebrating our 5th anniversary; the August Indiana Cheese-and-wine pairings. All this coming with the Big Annual Event coming in Spetember, the Cheesecake Festival! Watch our special events pages for more info...
Keep in mind our hours changed after May 31, we are open daily 1-6 PM until January 1,
